Person seriously injured as crash shuts A28 Tenterden Road in Rolvenden, near Ashford

An air ambulance was called after a person was seriously injured in a crash on a major route.

The A28 Tenterden Road in Rolvenden was closed in both directions after the collision at 12.17pm today.

Two people were cut from a vehicle by firefighters before being taken to William Harvey Hospital by land.

The air ambulance was called to the scene, and crews assisted paramedics on the journey.

One person’s injuries are described as serious.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called at approximately midday today to attend a collision on Tenterden Road.

“Two patients were transported to William Harvey Hospital, one of whom sustained more serious injuries.

“The air ambulance team assisted in our vehicle to provide additional care during the journey to the hospital.”

The road was shut for about three hours but has since reopened.

A police spokesman confirmed: “Officers and other emergency services remain on scene while the incident is responded to.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes where possible.”

A fire service spokesman added: “Firefighting operations have now finished at a multiple vehicle crash on Tenterden Road, Rolvenden in Tenterden.

“Two fire engines attended and crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate two people from a vehicle.

“Two people were passed into the care of paramedics.

“There are still expected to be delays on Tenterden Road.
