Police have charged a 36-year-old man with 17 counts of criminal damage after rocks were thrown at cars across south and west Kent.

On Thursday, October 15 last year officers arrested Glynn Williams, aged 36, of North Street, Dartford.

Williams has now been charged with 17 counts of criminal damage and two of causing actual bodily harm.

An appeal was issued in September last year, following a number of similar incidents reported in Cranbrook, Benenden, Sandhurst, Biddenden and Rolvenden.

Jennie Ivinson was returning from a trip to Bodiam Castle with her young sons when her Vauxhall Zafira was hit at 1.25pm on Tuesday, August 18.

She suffered a black eye and cuts to her right cheek and eyelid when a missile went through her windscreen.

Nicola Waite also reported her car being struck in Benenden Road, at the junction of Walkhurst Road.

When she took her Volkswagen Golf into Summers Motors in Headcorn Road, Biddenden, Bryan Chittil, who works in customer services at the firm, said five vehicles had come in with similar damage after their drivers experienced near identical attacks.

Hairdresser Cheryl Morris also came forward to report an incident on Bodiam Road, Sandhurst on July 18.

The mum-of-two was on her way back home with her 16-month old baby daughter in the back of her Vauxhall Mokka.

Williams has been bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on July 7.
