A mum whose car was struck by rock-thrower Glynn Williams says that justice has been done after he was jailed for 10 years.
Jennie Ivinson, who lives in Sissinghurst, was returning from a trip to Bodiam Castle with her two young sons when her Vauxhall Zafira was hit by a brick hurled by the delivery driver.
The mum was driving along New Pond Road in Benenden when the missile shot through her windscreen, striking her in the face.
Jennie, who suffered a black eye and cuts to her right cheek and eyelid and needed hospital treatment for her injuries, says she still shudders when she drives past the spot. She also suffers from increased anxiety as a result of the attack.
It happened in August 2015, when Jennie’s eldest boy was three years-old and his brother just 17 months.
The rock ended up in the back of the car where the little boys were strapped in their car seats.
Speaking at the time of the incident, Jennie told Kent Online’s sister paper the Kentish Express. “I was aware of a vehicle passing me and then bang, suddenly everything went black.
"My windscreen had blown and something hit me in the face. My three-year-old was screaming and I was really shaken.”
The 39-year-old said the family are still feeling the effects of the trauma today: “My eldest boy still talks about what happened even though I never mention it in front of him.
"He says ‘mummy do you remember when that man threw a rock at our car’.
“I don’t want him to relive it – I just want him to forget it,” she said.
Jennie says that Williams’ sentence is fitting. “There is not much justice in the world so I am pleased with the sentence he got.
“You do wonder about the capabilities of a man who can do something like that and what he might do next.”
She added: “I’m a busy mum so I still have to drive, but for a long time I would flinch when I saw a big truck travelling past me.
“When I drive past the point it happened I still feel nervous.”
Delivery driver Williams caused terror and injury by throwing rocks at motorists “for fun” across the Weald.
