A van was found on its side in a water-filled ditch this morning but when emergency crews went to rescue the driver there was no one around.

Firefighters rushed to Military Road around 8.20am after reports the vehicle was in the ditch and fearing the driver would be trapped inside.

But after a full search of the vehicle and the area, crews couldn’t find anyone.

It is not known how the van crashed or if anyone was hurt.

Police have been informed.
