Paramedics and air ambulance crews were called to a village after a driver collapsed at the wheel of his car and crashed.
Emergency crews were called to Rolvenden High Street shortly before 8.30am this morning after a car crashed into a stationary vehicle.
An off-duty nurse saw a man behind the wheel who is believed to have passed out, and began CPR treatment to resuscitate him.
Ambulance crews arrived soon after and continued the treatment before taking him to the William Harvey Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
The A28 Hastings Road was closed during the incident. Meanwhile emergency services were also called to the nearby village of Newenden after a reported crash this morning.
