"I didn’t want to be a hundred - but I’m going on the razzle!"
That's how Marjorie Beton decided to tackle her milestone 100th birthday yesterday.
The Broadstairs resident was joined by friends and family at a party at The Mansions care home where she lives.

She reminisced with stories about her life with loved ones from home and abroad, with family members who travelled from as far away as Australia, Belgium and Holland to celebrate the big day.
After growing up in London, Mrs Beton moved to Thanet in the 1960s when her husband was posted to a position in the area with the police force.

She then took a job at a local hospital and says they had a very good life on the Isle.

Talking about her celebrations Mrs Beton said: “It’s fantastic really because of all the people around me and it is lovely to see everybody but I still feel the same as yesterday.
“I got a letter from The Queen and it is lovely, really wonderful - she looks as good as I do on the front.
“God knows how I’ve made it to 100 - and he won’t tell me.
“I loved dancing and I finished up playing bowls at the club in Minster.”
Mayor of Broadstairs Cllr Peter Shaw also wished Mrs Beton a happy birthday alongside barber shop quartet The Notables who serenaded her.
Mrs Beton’s daughter Jenni Jennings travelled from Australia to be there for her mum's big day.
Mrs Jennings said: “It is incredible that she has made it to her 100th birthday.
“I think the reason she has made it is because she is not a moaner, I speak with her everyday on the phone and ask her how she is - ‘I’m still here’ she says.
“But she never complains about her aches or pains and she has a really bright outlook on life and she still has all her marbles about her.
“She’s had a sad time in her life and lost two of her daughters, one very young. My twin sister died in the 1940s and my elder sister died a couple of years ago, I am the last one left.
“I have family that live in Australia so I spend most of my time out there with them.”
And Mrs Jennings wasn’t the only one to make a long trip for the special occasion.
Marjorie’s granddaughter Samantha Sancto travelled from Holland to celebrate the milestone birthday.
Mrs Sancto said: “I think her secret to living to 100 is having a sherry every day, actually mixed with Guinness sometimes and her enjoyment of life.
“The journey wasn’t too bad, it took a few hours in the car and on the train but we made it.”
