A young girl managed to struggle free after being grabbed by a man in a Broadstairs wood.
The 12-year-old was walking her dog with a friend near the cricket pavilion at Park Avenue when she went into the trees to get a stick.
As she entered the wood she was attacked by a man, thought to be between 60 and 69 years old.
She suffered scratches to her shoulder in the struggle to free herself, and ran back to her friend to raise the alarm.
Kent Police say they are treating the assault, which happened on Sunday, June 7, as an isolated incident, but would like to hear from anyone who might have information that would help with the investigation.
They said the suspect is about 5ft 6ins tall, with a tanned complexion.
He had dark grey hair with a beard and moustache. He also wore glasses and is thought to have a scar on the left-hand side of his neck.
He was believed to be wearing a dark green jumper with a ribbed collar, dark blue jeans and dirty white trainers.
