The Granville Theatre in Ramsgate is playing host to Aladdin -- a traditional family pantomime style show that has proved so popular over the last few years with the theatre's audiences.

Pantomime is an ideal opportunity to introduce children to the delights of live theatre and for adults to recall their own childhood memories of trips to Pantoland.

The well-known and much-loved tale of Aladdin is a firm family favourite and once again the Granville Theatre will give it their own special treatment.

Aladdin is a boy whose mother is a simple washer woman known as Widow Twankey. They live a simple life in the kingdom along with Wishee Washee their assistant.

One day Aladdin spies and falls in love with the Emperor's daughter, the beautiful Princess Badroubadour. The plot thickens when the crafty Abanaza sets his sights on a magic lamp hidden in a cave, and uses Aladdin to get it.

This year's production will feature many colourful scenes, spectacular effects, live music and dancing.

Experienced theatre director James Darnley is making a welcome return to the Granville following his success with Cinderella last year. He is looking forward to the production and working with the professional cast of actors to create an entertaining and magical experience for all.

Professional performers Graham Ashe and Frank Tucker - (the ugly sisters in last year's production of Cinderella) make a welcome return as Abanazer and Widow Twankey with Anthony Joblin as Wishee Washee visiting the Granville for the first time.

Local talent will include Aimee Watmore as Aladdin, Zoe Malloy as the Princess Jasmine, Stephen Bradley as the Genie of the Lamp and Duncan Woodruff as Constable Ping.

The show is on until January 3 and bookings can be made by contacting the theatre box office on 01843 591750.
