Changes to the recycling and waste collection service for Thanet residents will go live on Monday.
Residents are receiving new containers, including recycling food waste for the first time in the district, and new vehicles will collect the recycling and waste.
Every home receiving the new service will be given an information pack to advise how to use it.
Residents are reminded to put their containers out by 6am at the boundary of their property to ensure collection.
Collection crews are unable to collect containers from inside property boundaries unless it has been pre-arranged with the council.
Cabinet member for operational services Cllr Alan Poole said: “The improved recycling service is a fantastic opportunity for residents to recycle more of their household waste.
“This will improve our natural environment, with less going to landfill, but will also generate an income that will help to ensure the continuation of this excellent service in the future.
“We recognise that this is a big change for some of our residents but we believe that this is a positive improvement for our district and its future.
“I would like to encourage all residents to recycle more where possible and help the council to increase recycling rates in Thanet from 26% to at least 50%.”
