Acting legend Sir Michael Caine picked the best possible time to film his new movie at the seaside.

He was spotted on the beach at Margate yesterday in glorious sunshine as he shot scenes for a movie based on the Hatton Garden heist.

Sir Michael was also spotted outside the Turner Contemporary art gallery and other locations in the town.

He was joined by co-star Charlie Cox, who takes the leading role of Daredevil in the Netflix series of the same name.

Veteran Sir Michael, 84, ensured he kept his cool by sheltering from the sun under a pink umbrella.

The movie is also thought to star Jim Broadbent, Michael Gambon and Ray Winstone.

Sir Michael is playing the role of Hatton Garden mastermind Brian Reader, who lived in Dartford. Reader was jailed for six years for his part in the robbery.

Sir Michael had previously expressed an interest in the film, saying: “That story, the four guys in Hatton Garden, they are very, very tough ... I’ve heard my name and Ray Winstone’s name mentioned. I would do it in an instant.”

Reader, 76, who was also involved in the Brink’s-Mat gold bullion armed robbery in 1983, headed a gang of men responsible for stealing a haul worth at least £14 million of jewels, gold and cash from London’s famous jewellery quarter and the centre of the UK diamond trade.

It took them three years to plan the raid and the ringleaders watched YouTube videos of how to use powerful concrete piercing drills.

Posing as gas repairmen, the gang, one of whom has not been traced, gained access to the building before boring a hole through a thick concrete wall and breaking into a vault over the Easter weekend.

Sir Michael was in Margate on the day it was named the best town beach in the UK.
