Pub Landlord Al Murray has backed our We Love Thanet campaign.
The comedian, who announced he is standing in Thanet South against Ukip's Nigel Farage, revealed what he loves about this corner of Kent.
He said: "Thanet? Well Thanet has all the charms of the Garden of England, picturesque towns, delightful hostelries, as well as the benefits of being on the coast: the place is a double whammy.
"And then there's the people, always welcoming, ever charming, never downhearted."
Mr Murray says he is standing for the Free United Kingdom Party because it is time "for a bloke waving a pint offering commonsense solutions".
His pledges include reducing the price of beer to a penny a pint and getting Kent County Council to take over Greece, saying that it would at least ensure the bins got emptied.
The We Love Thanet campaign was launched by the Thanet Extra last week and is designed to prove the area's doom and gloom merchants wrong.
Editor Leo Whitlock said: "We reckon 2015 will be Thanet's year so we want to celebrate its successes, praise the people that make it so special and talk up what is undoubtedly an amazing place to live.
"Send us your positive stories about people's successes or how they have gone the extra mile. In short, tell us what makes you proud to say you are from Thanet."
