JCB digger driven into Co-op in Hopeville Avenue, Broadstairs as thieves attempt to steal cash machine

Thieves drove a digger into a Co-op store to steal its cash machine overnight.

The shop, in Hopeville Avenue, Broadstairs, is currently taped off by police with significant damage to the front.

The ATM was taken from the building, but later found with a JCB digger along a farm track off Hopeville Avenue.

Witnesses have reported seeing two men leaving the scene.

Police were alerted to the incident at 4.50am this morning and are appealing for any further witnesses to get in touch.
