Police cordon off part of Cliftonville beach after woman sexually assaulted

Part of a beach has been cordoned off after a woman was sexually assaulted.

Police are standing guard in Cliftonville, Margate, following the incident near Cliff Terrace.

Officers say they received a report a woman had been sexually assaulted by a man at about 4am.

They have cordoned off part of the beach close to Margate’s former Lido.

The incident is being treated as isolated, and officers say they do not believe there is any wider risk to the community.

Inquiries are ongoing.
