A fire ripped through beach huts in the early hours in yet another seafront blaze.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in Birchington-on-Sea at about 3am.

The cause is believed to be deliberate and police are investigating.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "KFRS was called at 3.07am today to reports of three beach huts on fire in The Parade, Minnis Bay in Birchington.

"Two fire engines attended and crews used a main jet to put the fire out.

"Two of the huts were 100% destroyed by fire and the third had 10% fire damage. The cause is believed to be deliberate."

It comes just weeks after five beach huts were destroyed in a fire late a night at Minnis Bay.

In July, three beach huts were also ruined after going up in flames in Westcliff Road, Margate.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are investigating after a number of beach huts were reported damaged during a fire in Birchington.

"Police were made aware by Kent Fire and Rescue Service in the early hours that their crews had attended a fire in the Parade, Minnis Bay, reported to them just after 3am.

"Three beach huts are reported to have received severe damage during the blaze.

"Patrols attended the scene to carry out enquiries regarding the fire, which is being treated as suspicious."
