Firefighters were at the scene of a house blaze which broke out this evening.
Residents living near St Andrew’s Road, in Ramsgate, have reported seeing thick black smoke billowing across the street.
Two fire engines and a fire service volunteer response team attended just before 6pm and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
Mum Sharina Kent saw the incident at around 6.30pm today (October 27) as she and her daughters were walking home from the shops.
She said: “As my daughters and I approached the firemen were already in masks and had oxygen tanks.
“We stood and watched as billows of black smoke poured out. As we watched, a second fire engine appeared and then attached a water hose.
“We crossed over the street and stayed back watching as thick black smoke continued to pour out.”
Video footage from the residential street shows smoke coming from one of the terraced houses as blue emergency lights flash nearby.
One person was passed into the care of paramedics for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews left the scene at around 7.30pm.
