Body of man pulled from sea in Birchington

A man in his 50s has died after he was pulled from the water at a seafront beauty spot.

Emergency services descended on Beresford Gap, Birchington-on-Sea, following concerns for a person in the sea.

Police, paramedics and the coastguard were called to the scene at about 9.30am on Friday.

Tragically, a man in his 50s was recovered from the water and died at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
