Well-wishers stood in solidarity with hundreds of others around the country for Sabina Nessa who was killed as she walked to a pub at night.
Those honouring the 28-year-old laid candles and flowers on Margate Harbour Steps last night and stood in silence.
The teacher, who had been walking to meet a friend last Friday, was discovered in Cator Park, Kidbrooke, by a passer-by the following day.
Last night’s vigil coincided with hundreds paying tribute in Pegler Square, outside Kidbrooke Station, close to where a suspect was captured on CCTV.
Organiser Naomi Gale said after the Margate vigil: “We need to continue to take action in order to make any kind of difference for the safety of women in this country.
“Thank you to those in Margate who came to Sabina’s vigil last night."
Speaking before the vigil she said: "When Sarah [Everard] went missing, the media coverage was huge and obviously [Wayne Couzens] lived in Kent as well," she said.
"We were all listening, we wanted to know the outcome, we wanted to support and we all felt it as women that lose in that way.
“I can’t understand how we have got to the point where it’s almost a week and we hadn’t heard about this. How could that have happened?"
It comes as officers intensify their hunt for a balding man who was recorded holding an object in his hands, with Scotland Yard saying he could be “vital” to the case.
Footage released earlier this week showed the man lifting his hood and checking behind himself as he walked.
Meanwhile two men arrested on suspicion of murder have been released under investigation.
Det Ch Insp Neil John, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “Our team have been working tirelessly to find the person responsible for Sabina’s murder and this has included an extensive trawl of CCTV, work which remains ongoing.
“We would ask anyone – especially those in Kidbrooke and the wider area of Lewisham and Greenwich – to take a careful look at these images to check whether you know who this man is or have seen him over recent days.
“Any information as to his identity or whereabouts could be vital for our investigation so we are asking you to share this image far and wide to ensure as many people as possible see it.”
