Chef Steve Gaffon is appealing for help as he plans to step out on a marathon fundraiser for a cause close to his heart.

Steve, 44, who works at Miles Bar on Ramsgate seafront is planning a 26-mile treadmill marathon there on May 10.

His problem is that his treadmill has broken and he is hoping someone might be able to lend him one to train on and for the event.

Steve, of Central Road, Ramsgate, will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation out of respect for his mum Patricia.

She brought up five children on her own, despite having a hole in her heart which was only identified when she had a heart attack a couple of years ago.

Miles Bar is also launching a special healthy menu for Steve’s cause.

Steve said that any treadmill loaned needs to be capable of recording the distance covered. He is hoping to complete his marathon within four hours.

He has completed three marathons so far, including one in Austria, in times between three and a half and four hours.
