Child rushed to hospital after sparking huge emergency response on Margate beach

A young girl has been rushed to hospital after a medical emergency at Margate Harbour.

Multiple police and ambulance crews descended on the beach at around 3.15pm.

Witnesses saw paramedics performing CPR on a child, who had been in the sea.

She has now been taken to the QEQM Hospital in 'very serious condition'.

A SECAmb spokesman said: "We were called at 3.14 to Margate Harbour and sent a number of resources to attend.

"A girl, in a very serious condition, has now been taken to the QEQM Hospital."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 3.13 to concerns for a child in the sea at Margate Harbour."

Emergency crews were also called to the beachfront at Westbrook Promenade at 12.48 today after a young boy fell into difficulty in the water.

He was treated by crews at the scene before being taken to the the QEQM Hospital, and is also in a very serious condition.
