Graffiti has appeared on a train in Kent urging people to stay at home to support the NHS amid the coronavirus crisis.

The message was sprayed on the carriage at Ramsgate, with a group of youngsters being blamed.

The artwork includes the word "NHS" with "Not all humans are selfish people. #Selfisolate" appearing next to it.

"While the sentiment may be laudable, this is mindless vandalism and it is criminal," a Southeastern spokesman said.

"For every occasion that we have to take a train out of service for graffiti removal, more pressure is placed on our staff who are working around the clock to ensure that vital train services can keep running for essential travel – especially for key workers such as those in the NHS.

"Anyone who witnesses graffiti or vandalism on the railway should report it to the British Transport Police on 080040 5040 or text 61016."
