A dead porpoise has been found washed up on the beach.

The animal's body was found by a walker at Joss Bay, near Broadstairs, on Sunday afternoon.

The incident is the second on Thanet's beaches in three days after another porpoise was found at Botany Bay late last week.

The porpoise was found washed up on the beach at Joss Bay (13680314)

A council spokesman confirmed it was informed of the harbour porpoise being found at the bay on Monday morning.

The authority cordoned off the area around the animal's body with warning signs telling beachgoers it was being dealt with.

The council cleared the mammal away on Tuesday, the spokesman added.
