Driver arrested after crashing into police car in Market Place, Margate with cannabis in vehicle

A driver has been arrested after crashing into a police car during a chase.

The suspicious vehicle failed to stop when police flagged it down on the A28 in Westbrook yesterday.

The car came to a stop in Market Place, Margate, after a police pursuit

During a police pursuit, the car hit a marked police vehicle before stopping shortly afterwards in Market Place, Margate.

A police spokeswoman said: "A quantity of cannabis was recovered following a search of the vehicle and a 28-year old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop when requested to do so, driving without insurance and possession of a Class B drug.

"He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."
