A teenage drug dealer caught with a 10-inch knife has been jailed for six years.

Patrolling officers spotted Chakile Gonladieu acting suspiciously in Millmead Road in January this year.

As they watched the 19-year-old, Gonladieu was seen dealing drugs.

An investigation by Kent Police found Gonladieu, of no fixed address, had been cuckooing a home in Margate.

The technique is used by dealers to use a vulnerable persons home as a base while they sell drugs in the area.

Gonladieu pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place, and two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

On Friday, April 27, the teenager was ordered to six years' detention in a young offenders' institute.

The case was investigated as part of a crackdown on knife and drug crime, known as Operation Raptor.

Senior investigating officer Sgt Simon Clarke said: "The message is clear to anyone thinking of coming into the county to deal drugs. You are not welcome, our officers actively target drug dealing, and as this case shows, planning a short visit to deal drugs in Margate can and will lead to a long stay behind bars."
