Drunk driver and alcoholic Justin Pidford was found to be nearly four times over the legal alcohol limit for driving following an incident in Ramsgate.

The 41-year-old alcoholic, of Royal Road in the town, admitted to Canterbury magistrates driving a Vauxhall Astra with 139 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The court banned him from driving for 30 months and sentenced Pidford to 54 days in prison, suspended for two years. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs, an £80 victim surcharge and to have treatment for his alcohol dependency as directed.

This follows an incident in Royal Esplanade, Ramsgate, on April 12 this year.
