A family-run burger joint has opened today in Margate town centre.
Chunky’s Burgers, run by couple Sam and Danielle Remblance, have welcomed customers for the first time at the High Street location, also offering milkshakes, fries and chicken.
The pair also have a branch in Canvey Island, Essex, and started the business as a home-delivery service in lockdown.
Mr Remblance, 34, said: “We were an events company and went to Reading and all the big festivals.
“Obviously, we had no work in lockdown so we had to do something.
“We started Chunky’s Burgers, I had always had the idea but was too busy.
“We had a lot of time on our hands over Covid and started with a home delivery service and we got really busy.”
Since then, customers “went crazy” for their food, and the company – run by Mr Remblance and his wife Danielle – has flourished.
Today, passersby will be offered tokens for free meals at the venue, which is opposite Poundland.
The dad added: “I did all the work to get the shop ready myself.
“It's been fun. I’ve tried to be creative and wanted a quirky feel.
“I didn't want to blend and wanted it to look a bit different.”
The brightly coloured restaurant, with a blue and yellow frontage, aims for “personal family touch”.
Chunky’s Burgers will be open from 11am to 9pm to start with, but Mr Remblance hopes to do a breakfast service soon. Chunky’s Burgers also run a delivery service.
