A fire-ravaged former pub in Ramsgate is to be sold at auction.

Previously known as the Eagle Inn, it was severely damaged in a fire more than 30 years ago.

The building was given Grade II-listed status in 1988 and dates back to the 18th century,

But it has remained empty for many years and auctioneers Clive Emson says it is need of "considerable improvement".

Set on the High Street, previous planning permissions for the property were granted to turn it into a seven-bedroom hotel - although this has now lapsed.

The auctioneer describes the property as: "An end-terrace building which has been vacant for many years and was formerly a public house.

"The building occupies a good location in Ramsgate's town centre close to local amenities and a short distance from Ramsgate mainline railway station.

"It has suffered fire damage in the past and is in need of considerable improvement but is of a good size with three floors plus basement."

Clive Emson will sell the building - which has a guide price of £250,000-plus - when it holds its latest property auction on November 2.
