There was a distinctly fishy flavour to lessons at St Peter-in-Thanet Junior School when
Billingsgate Seafood School set up stall in classrooms for a day.
The aim of the charity group was to encourage young people to enjoy seafood as part of a healthy diet.
The team talked to Year 3 pupils to make them aware of the sustainability of fish stock and the importance of fish in a healthy diet.
Children watched a DVD, made some fish recipes and tasted different fish and seafood.
The visitors answered questions about whether fish have teeth and eyelids, do squids have shells and why do some fish have two eyes on the same side.
Among the questions that the visitors are used to explaining are do fish have teeth; where are their eyelids; does a squid have a shell; why do some fish have two eyes on the same side?
The visit was supported by the European Fisheries Fund and Industry Organisation
