National retailer Shoe Zone is set to open a shop next to Westwood Cross this week.

The value footwear store will be arriving at The Link Retail Park in Broadstairs on Saturday, with a full launch day planned for November 9.

It will create seven jobs for the area when it opens in unit 3, formerly Mattressman, with a further three internal promotions.

The Thanet store will be Shoe Zone's 42nd 'big box' shop in the country.

The Leicester-headquartered business is planning to open four additional out-of-town stores before the end of the year, taking the total to 45.

The retailer's 'big box' stores differ from its usual high street shops, stocking brands such as Rieker, Sketchers and Heavenly Feet, as well as Shoe Zone's own brand range.

Hannah Tomlinson, head of store marketing at Shoe Zone, said: "We are very excited to be opening our 42nd branded store in Thanet.

"This is our 23rd big box store opening within the last 12 months, which is a great achievement for Shoe Zone, taking our total number of stores in the UK to 503.

"We hope that our customers like what’s on offer and we look forward to welcoming them into our new store.”
