Two frightened fox cubs had to be saved by rescuers after falling 10ft through a skylight into a flat.
The young animals were found crouched on top of kitchen cabinets at the home in Harbour Street, Ramsgate on Friday.
Police called the RSPCA for help after they would not leave the building - which was unoccupied at the time - through an open door.
Charity inspector Tina Nash went to the scene and said: “The two cubs were crouched on top of the kitchen wall cabinets and were clearly very frightened.
“There was shattered glass all over the floor as well as a brick so we believe the skylights had been smashed and the foxes, who were exploring the flat roof above, fell through and got stuck.
“They’d fallen around 10ft so they were lucky not to be seriously injured - but they were very nervous and we don’t know how long they’d been trapped in the apartment.”
The babies were caught and released in a nearby park.
Inspector Nash added: “They were keen to get away!”
An RSPCA spokesman said: “When an animal is in need, the quicker they get help the better. There may be times when you can help get a sick, injured or abandoned animal quickly by taking them directly to a vet, rehabilitation centre or rescue centre, or free a trapped animal yourself - and the RSPCA offers bespoke advice to the public about the quickest way to get an animal in need help.
“There’s helpful advice on the RSPCA website about how to get help for animals as quickly as possible, and how to report cruelty and neglect to our specialist teams.”
