Garlinge High Street near Margate shut due to crash and oil spillage

A high street was shut due to a crash and an oil spillage.

Police and highway workers were at the scene of the incident in Garlinge High Street, which is between Westgate-on-Sea and Margate, this morning.

Emergency services were called shortly before 9.30am to the scene after a car overturned.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service. No serious injuries were reported.

"The road was closed following the incident but has since reopened."

Kent County Council warned motorists to expect delays in the area.

A post shared shortly before 11am said: "Garlinge High Street is currently closed due to an RTC and oil spillage between Birds Avenue and Crow Hill Road.

"Kent Police are in attendance. A KCC Highway Steward is en-route.
