A historic boating pool with amusements and a go kart track is on the market for £225,000.

Thanet District Council, which owns the Ramsgate attraction on Royal Esplanade, is looking for someone to buy the lease of the Grade II listed property, which is split in half, including a restaurant on one side and bar on the other.

Between the two buildings is a large boating pool and there is also a children's outdoor play area and go kart track.

Miles and Barr say there is plenty of scope for creating more business at the site.

"It is located on the west side of Ramsgate, on the Royal Esplanade, with fantastic sea views, ideal for walkers and plenty of parking on the wide road for cars and coach parties," the estate agent said.

"The property is split into two halves, with one side being run as a licensed restaurant/cafe, with a separate room for slot machines and amusements.

"The other half is currently set up as a bar, with an additional large room.

"This is a great opportunity to purchase a business in an up and coming area of Thanet."

The lease of the property is being offered, with Thanet council being the freeholder, and the annual rent is approximately £10,500 per annum.

Last year bar owner Danny Potts, who runs the Sea Lounge bar in Broadstairs, had hoped to take over the lease from the current operator.

He also wanted to hold a weekend-long festival by draining the boating pool to host 3,000 people at the seafront venue.

The event would have taken place on September 14 and 15 featuring Heather Small from M People but he pulled the plug due to complaints based on "incorrect" information about the licence.

At the time, he said: "It's a shame because I had great intentions to make it one of the best places in Ramsgate."
