An intruder forced a window open to an elderly woman's house in one of two reported burglary incidents on the same road.

Both a burglary and an attempted burglary are reported to have happened in Northdown Park Road, Margate, between midday and 5pm on Sunday.

The first happened between 1pm and 2pm while the elderly occupant was in the house.

Police are appealing for witnesses

The offence was discovered when the resident heard the front door slamming and realised money and a purse had been stolen from her handbag.

The second incident was reported at a neighbouring property.
