The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is coming to Thanet.

And to celebrate her arrival next Wednesday we’re urging our readers to give her a warm welcome.

Thanet Extra editor Leo Whitlock said: “This is thought to be one of Kate’s last public engagements before she gives birth to her second child which is due in April.

“Put the poster that you can download from this page in your window to show your support for the Duchess, the Royal Family and to wish her luck as labour looms large.

“We don’t know the route she will take so let’s plaster the whole place with posters to show her and the rest of the world how proud we are of her and how proud we are of the place we live and work in.

“We’ve said it before but Thanet is on the up and this is yet another positive reason to put the area on the map.

Kensington Palace announced last Wednesday that Kate will visit Turner Contemporary in Margate to view the gallery’s latest exhibition called Self: Image and Identity.

On display will be the Van Dyck self-portrait which she privately viewed in London earlier this month.

Her Royal Highness is the patron of the National Portrait Gallery which ran a lengthy public fundraising campaign to keep the painting in this country.

Turner Contemporary's Monique Kent said: “It is a fantastic opportunity for Turner Contemporary to show her all the work at the gallery and for her to come to Margate and see the regeneration of the creative scene.

“We had the Queen here in 2011 and to have a Royal visit four years later is very exciting.

“She will be meeting with artists, a local school and a group of young women about identity issues.”

The Thanet Extra and the rest of the KM Group is proud of the area and has launched a We Love Thanet campaign

The Duchess will also visit Resort Studios in Athelstan Road, Cliftonville, one of Thanet’s most deprived areas.

It is a collective of creative professionals, founded in 2013 as a space that encourages experimentation and collaboration in the arts.

Director Dan Chilcott said: “We are thrilled she’s coming to Margate in general after the regeneration of the arts we have had here.

“We haven’t had anything to the scale of this visit before so now we are concentrating on making sure she gets to meet the people involved and gets to understand the work we do.

“Having the spotlight on us is really exciting and it’s something to be celebrated.”
