A knifeman walked away empty-handed after he stormed into a shop and demanded cash from a till.

The attempted robbery happened at a store in Northdown Road, near the junction with Northumberland Avenue in Cliftonville.

The man entered the shop and demanded money from the till, but police say the member of staff refused and was able to get the suspect out of the premises.

It happened at about 9.25pm on Monday, October 10.

A police spokesman said: "The suspect was described as being of mixed ethnicity, 24 to 25 years old, about 5 ft 4 ins tall, and of average build.

"He was believed to be wearing a black jacket with the hood up, black jeans, and black gloves.

"He also wore a partial face covering and was reported to be carrying a knife."
