Man charged with 10 counts of arson after vehicle fires in Ramsgate

A man has been charged with 10 counts of arson and one count of reckless arson endangering life following a number of vehicle fires.
An occupied campervan was among those ablaze in Ramsgate in the early hours of Monday morning.
Fire crews and police were called just after midnight following a report a car was alight in Newcastle Hill and was believed to be suspicious.
Further vehicle fires were reported shortly after in Finsbury Road, Broad Street, Anns Road, Church Road and Denmark Hill. One of the vehicles alight was an occupied campervan.
Nobody was injured in the fires.
Toby Pierce, of Dane Road, has since been charged with 10 counts of arson and one count of reckless arson endangering life.
He was also charged with one count of assault.
The 20-year-old was taken into custody and appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 16.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Canterbury Crown Court on April 19.
A 19-year-old man from Ramsgate arrested on suspicion of arson and possession of cannabis has been released on bail until April 11 while the investigation into the incident continues.
