Canterbury man charged with rape in Northwood Road, Ramsgate

A man has been charged with rape after an alleged incident in Ramsgate.

20-year-old Shershah Muslimyar, of Hovenden Close, Canterbury was charged yesterday (Friday) and is due to appear at Canterbury Magistrates Court today (Saturday).

The attack is said to have taken place at an address in the Northwood Road area of the town between 3.24am and 5.13am on Sunday.

A 37-year-old man from Ramsgate and an 18-year-old man from Margate were also arrested on Sunday on suspicion of rape.

They remain on bail until Tuesday, September 27.

Officers are still keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area.

Investigating officer DI Richard Vickery said: "We believe the victim was at Ramsgate railway station in the early hours of Sunday morning and then set off towards Northwood Road.

"Inquiries are under way to establish the exact circumstances of the incident but we are keen to hear from anyone in that area of the town who saw anything suspicious."
