A man has died after he collapsed near a busy road this morning.

There has been a huge emergency presence in Canterbury Road, Garlinge, near Margate, after police and paramedics were called at about 9.40am today.

Desperate efforts were made to resuscitate the man near The Hussar Pub in the village, but he died at the scene.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "I can confirm that we were called to Canterbury Road, Margate, at approximately 9.40am today to reports a man had collapsed.

"Ambulance crews attended but sadly were unable to resuscitate the man who sadly died at the scene."
