A Margate man has been jailed for three years and nine months for dealing class A drugs.

Simon Cursons, 31, of Gordon Road, was caught with the drugs by door staff at the Source Bar, Maidstone.

On March 29 2013, he was also seen exchanging money with another person at the venue in the Roseyard and detained until police arrived. They seized 11 wraps of MDMA, widely known as “ecstasy” and £100 cash.

At Maidstone police station, a further search uncovered another wrap of the drug, bringing the total value of narcotics taken to be valued at £240 and £480.

He was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and jailed at Maidstone Crown Court on January 6.

Insp Justin Watts, who is responsible for policing in Maidstone town centre said: “We are also really fortunate to have a great working relationship with door staff, licensees and CCTV operators.

“If you are found in possession of drugs you risk being arrested, being strip-searched, and also a prison sentence so our message is clear – it is not worth the risk.”
