A man has appeared at Maidstone Crown Court accused of murdering elderly John Joyce at a Ramsgate flat earlier this month.

David Alberto, 31, of Albert Street, Ramsgate, was remanded in custody until September 25, when he is expected to enter a plea to the charge.

John Joyce, 64, was discovered with fatal stab wounds in Conyngham Close by neighbours on July 15.

Judge Andrew Patience QC set a provisional trial date for February 1 next year.
