These are the horrific injuries a Ramsgate man suffered after he was assaulted by five men on Monday.

Jeff Cousins, 43, of West Cliff Road, said: "I had just left my house and immediately I was followed by five people who started shouting at me.

"I tried to get into The Artillery Arms pub to get out of their way but I got hit with something so hard and I hit the floor just outside."

"They kept attacking ran off into Crescent Road - but I think I was temporarily knocked out for part of it.

"I didn't see anyone else around at the time but I got myself back to the house still bleeding.

"My partner called an ambulance, apparently I had an epileptic fit and I think my palate is broken.

"I had just been paid and they went through my pockets so now I can't support myself for the next two weeks.

"It was totally unprovoked and I don't know what goes on in people's heads to inflict an attack like that."
