Ramsgate: Missing person in sea report sparks Coastgaurd and RNLI search near harbour

Coastguard and lifeboat crews launched a search following a report of a missing person in the sea.

A helicopter was seen flying low over Ramsgate Harbour and at least two lifeboats were sent out this morning.

The services were stood down, however, when it emerged the person had made their way back to shore.

Ramsgate RNLI spokesman Karen Cox said: "We were launched to reports of a person in the water reported from a person inshore.

"However, after searching, it turns out that the person in the water had made their way back to shore.

"We launched with good intentions but false alarm.
