A mum left trapped in her car with a broken neck after a terrifying hit-and-run has recalled the moment she watched the other driver walk away as she screamed for help.
Amy Taylor also broke her spine and pelvis in the three-car crash in Shottendane Road, Birchington earlier this month, spending two weeks in hospital.
Police are still searching for one of the drivers - believed to be a woman who had a child with her - who left the scene on foot without speaking to officers.
Miss Taylor is now home from the William Harvey Hospital, where she was rushed to after being freed from her car, but says she is struggling mentally.
She has also been told by medics it will take at least nine months before she has recovered physically from her serious injuries.
"I’m at home now finally and struggling mentally more then anything," she said.
"I’m having nightmares most nights and I see her and her child every time I close my eyes.
"The little girl must be having the same nightmares I am having. She was just staring at me as I screamed for help, and the woman just waved and walked off knowing I couldn’t get out."
Miss Taylor, 34, who says she can not bear to see the wreckage of her car or drive again, says she was unable to feel her legs when she was trapped.
"I still can’t feel my left leg and my right one goes numb when I’ve pushed too hard," she said.
"The bottoms of my feet are also numb.
"I’m not used to not being able to get on and do something as simple as Hoover the sugar I’ve dropped on the floor because of the pain," she said.
'I screamed for help, and the woman just waved and walked off knowing I couldn’t get out...'
"I can’t get in or out of my bath on my own.
"Loud bangs are also frightening me."
The Birchington mum-of-one says police found blood in the hit and run driver's car, which is understood to be unregistered.
"I hope it wasn’t the little girl's blood, but someone was injured," she said.
"I just want anyone that saw what happened to call the police and make a statement, especially if they saw her.
"I also want to know if the other people in the third car are OK as I don't have any of their details to find out."
The woman driver believed to have fled is understood to have left on foot along Margate Hill in the direction of Acol.
A search of the area was carried out by officers, with support from the coastguard helicopter, but she was not located.
A police spokesman says there is currently no update on the investigation.
Officers and paramedics attended the scene of the crash, which was at the junction of Manston Road and Shottendane Road just before 7pm on November 1.
"A search of the area assisted by the HMS Coastguard helicopter was carried out following a report that the occupants of one of the vehicles had left before speaking to officers," a police spokesman said.
"Two people reported injuries and were taken to hospital."
