Iris Johnston has been confirmed as new leader of Thanet council.

She succeeds Clive Hart who quit the role unexpectedly this week, saying he was fed up with the ‘toxic’ behaviour of his colleagues and launching an outspoken attack on Green councillor Ian Driver.

The news of her appointment was first revealed in the Thanet Extra this week.
