An invasion of weeds means trains between two towns will be stopped for an entire day.

They are cancelled between Margate and Ramsgate for all Sunday and passengers will have to use a replacement bus service.

Excess vegetation like this is halting trains between Margate and Ramsgate

A spokesman for Network Rail said: “Because of excess vegetation along the tracks between we need to undertake urgent maintenance to the railway between Margate and Ramsgate on Sunday.

”We’re sorry for the short notice but we need to take the opportunity to do this work on Sunday so that trains can continue to run safely and reliably.

“Southeastern has arranged for accessible buses to replace trains on this route, and you can check your journey times before you travel at southeasternrailway.co.uk.”

Southeastern tweeted a warning about this earlier today telling of “urgent repairs to the railway” needed.
