A flat linked to drug dealing which attracted people at all hours of the day has been shut down.

Police obtained a three-month closure order for the property in Camden Square, Ramsgate, after antisocial behaviour caused a “serious nuisance” to residents.

It was reported the property was linked to drug dealing and there was a flow of people visiting the address at all hours of the day.

The force carried out a warrant in September which led to officers seizing suspected class-A drugs, cash and multiple mobile phones.

Paraphernalia linked to drug taking was also found, while two people were arrested and bailed as inquiries continue.

Investigating officer PC Michelle Sherwood said: “We have listened to the concerns of the community and we understand the negative impact that antisocial behaviour and criminality can have on an area.

“By using the powers available to us, we aim to disrupt any criminal activity linked to the property and make it clear that it will not be tolerated.

“We were able to bring evidence to the court to show antisocial behaviour was taking place at the property, it was causing a serious nuisance to the public and it was linked to disorder nearby.

“I am pleased the court agreed this order should be in place and we will keep working with partner agencies to identify any other addresses that may cause similar issues with a view to making communities safer.”

A three-month closure order for the property was granted at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

It prevents anyone other than emergency services or the landlord from visiting the property during that period.

Anyone entering the flat risks a custodial sentence or an unlimited fine.
