Major budget chain Home Bargains has announced the opening date for its newest Kent store.

The branch in the former Aldi building in Boundary Road, Ramsgate, is expected to launch in March 2023.

Home Bargains will take over a former Aldi in Ramsgate

The new supermarket, which will include a chilled and frozen food section, will create 70 jobs for the area.

It comes after Aldi moved out of the building following 20 years of operating, and relocated across the road to a new facility at a former gasworks site.

Aldi bosses said the store had become "too small" for the supermarket's needs, prompting them to move the business into the purpose-built unit in December 2021.

A spokesperson for Home Bargains, said: "Home Bargains will be opening a new store in Ramsgate in March 2023.

"We are extremely excited to be opening our first store in Ramsgate and having the opportunity to show a whole new community of customers our fantastic product ranges.

"These will, of course, be in line with the Home Bargains' ethos of top brands at bottom prices."
