A peahen is winging it alone on the loose in Broadstairs.

It was snapped in town by Tom Brooks, who spotted the bird in his girlfriend's front garden in Bridleway Gardens.

Several people in the area have seen the bird in the last few days - with the RSPCA made aware of the situation.

A spokesman for the charity said: "The RSPCA has been made aware of sightings of a peacock in this location.

"We have been advised that the bird is fit and healthy and able to fly.

"Peacocks seen in the wild are likely to be escapees from a local collection and if a peacock is healthy and uncontained then it isn't something which the RSPCA would come out to, unless there was an apparent welfare issue, as we have to prioritise animals that need immediate help.
"We would advise that contact is made with local estates or collections, to check if they have had any escapees."
