Pedestrian hit by motorbike in A28 Canterbury Road, Margate

A woman has been airlifted to a London hospital after being hit by a motorbike.

The pedestrian, who is in her 70s, was left seriously injured following the collision in Canterbury Road, Margate, which left the rider, a man in his 30s, also needing hospital treatment.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene at about 9pm yesterday.

They were then joined by the air ambulance service.

An ambulance spokesman said: "The pedestrian was treated before being airlifted to hospital in London.

"The motorcyclist was treated before being taken to QEQM Hospital in Margate."

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "Shortly before 9pm on Wednesday, February 2, a grey Sinnis motorcycle was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on the A28 Canterbury Road, near the junction with Hartsdown Road.

"The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, suffered a serious injury and was taken to a London hospital, where she remains receiving treatment.

"The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was also taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged."
