Police hunt mugging suspect after woman has her bag snatched in Northdown Park Road, Margate

A woman was pulled to the ground and her bag was snatched during a mugging.

Police are hunting a man who approached the victim, who is in her 70s, outside a house in Northdown Park Road, Margate.

The pensioner was walking towards the property on Saturday, May 27, at about 6pm when her assailant approached her from behind.

It is reported the man grabbed her bag and pulled her to the ground before running off towards Dane Park.

The suspect is described as being white, around 25 years old, of slim build and with short, strawberry-blond hair. His clothing included a white t-shirt.

DC Rebecca Keeler, from the East Kent CID, said: “This was a very upsetting incident for a vulnerable victim and an investigation is underway to identify the suspect.

“We are urging witnesses or anybody with information to call our appeal line. Drivers with dashcam are also asked to check for relevant footage.”
