Police appeal for witnesses after attempted robbery in Cecil Square, Margate

A woman was thrown to the ground after three men demanded her mobile phone in Margate town centre.
The victim in her late teens was standing by a bus stop in Cecil Square when she noticed the men walking in the direction of the High Street at 3.45pm on Tuesday.
She reported that one of the group walked towards her and asked if she wanted to buy a watch.
When she replied no, she was grabbed by a man as he demanded her mobile phone.
After she was thrown to the ground the men walked away without taking the phone.
The suspect is described as being a white man, aged between 20 and 25, with a slim build.
He was wearing a dark blue hooded top and is about 5ft 10ins tall.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Leigh Morris said: “Fortunately the victim was not injured during the incident.
“This attempted robbery took place in the middle of Margate town centre, which is a busy area with a lot of pedestrians and traffic.
“It is possible a lot of people may have witnessed the incident and we urge them to get in contact.”
